Firefighters rescue dog from house fire.

MANISTEE – Firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire Thursday evening, Nov. 29, and rescued the family’s dog.

“At approximately 7:15 p.m., the Manistee Fire Department responded to the 200 block of 6th Street in reference to a report of a structure fire,” said Director of Public Safety Timothy E. Kozal.

“Upon arrival, Captain Mark Cameron and Captain John Peddie found a fire that was contained to the kitchen area in the rear of the house. The residents had evacuated. The fire was quickly extinguished. The family dog was rescued by firefighters. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Filer Township Fire Department assisted.”
