Domestic violence victim seriously injured.


MANISTEE – A 33-year-old Manistee woman suffered “several serious injuries” at the hands of a 40-year-old Manistee man during a domestic assault Thursday, Nov. 29, said Director of Public Safety Timothy Kozal.

Richard Allen Anderson, Jr., was arrested and lodged in the Manistee County

Anderson was charged Friday, Nov. 30, with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony, and third-offense domestic assault, a five-year felony. Anderson’s bail was set at $200,000 cash/surety.

Officers from the Manistee Police Department, with assistance from the Manistee Fire Department, responded to the incident in the 400 block of 1st Street. “Pursuant to the investigation, a search warrant was served at the suspect’s residence,” Kozal said.

Officers from the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, the Michigan State Police and deputies from the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
