Manistee teen arrested on multiple felony charges for crime spree.


MANISTEE — A 17-year-old Manistee man is behind bars, facing several felony charges in connection to a recent rash of thefts from vehicles and garages, according to Manistee Director of Public Safety Timothy Kozal.

“Edward Alan Mousseau admitted to the thefts that have occurred over the past several months,” Kozal said. “Mousseau is currently lodged in the Manistee County Jail on numerous charges that include three counts of breaking and entering, one count of receiving and concealing a stolen firearm, one count of receiving and concealing stolen property and two counts of theft of a financial transaction device.

“On July 27,2018, the Manistee City Police Department initiated an investigation into a 17-year-old Manistee resident who was in possession of a stolen handgun. Pursuant to the investigation, Officer Raul Vasquez and Officer Brian Cook developed information that led to the recovery of items that have been stolen from vehicles and garages in the City of Manistee and Manistee County,” Kozal said.

“The Manistee Police Department reminds residents to be diligent with their vehicles and outbuildings. Many of these incidents were as a result of unlocked doors. The Manistee Police Department encourages anyone to contact the police department if they have any information that will assist in this ongoing investigation.”
