Identity of fire victim released.

SPRINGDALE TOWNSHIP — The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the victim who died in a house fire early Tuesday morning. The body of Brian Brantley, 45, of Brethren was found in a bathroom by fire department personnel after they extinguished the fire at 17611 Pine View Road. Fire departments were dispatched at 1:50 a.m. on March 6. Upon arrival, the house was engulfed in flames.

A previous story stated the home was located at 17611 Wells Road in Cleon Township, based on a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Undersheriff Kenneth Falk stated that preliminary autopsy results indicated that Bentley showed no signs of trauma or injuries. Investigators are waiting for toxicology reports before the final cause of death is determined by the medical examiner.

Responding to the scene were Thompsonville Fire Department, Cleon Township Fire Department, Maple Grove Township Fire Department, Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital, Benzie County EMS, Michigan State Police and Manistee County Sheriff’s Office.
