Police investigating early morning armed home invasion.

MANISTEE — Manistee Police Department is investigating a home invasion case that involved an armed masked man. The incident took place about 12:18 a.m. today, Monday, Jan. 29, in the 400 block of Second Street, according to a press release from the MPD.

“Initial information indicates an unknown male wearing a mask, armed with handgun, forced entry in a residence and demanded cash. The 75-year-old victim was not injured during the incident,” the release stated.

The suspect was wearing dark colored clothing and was described as being “short”, between 5-feet to 5-feet, 3 inches tall.

Police officers are also investigating another home invasion that took place on Jan. 24 in the 440 block of Third Street. During that investigation — with the assistance of the Michigan State Police, Manistee County Sheriff’s Office, Mason County Sheriff’s Office, and Manistee County Parole Office — a 35-year-old Manistee resident was arrested on a parole detainer.

“Numerous items that have been stolen from home invasions in Manistee were recovered to include a stolen handgun. Warrants will be sought for home invasion, receiving and concealing stolen property, felon in possession of a handgun and felony firearm will be presented to the Manistee County Prosecutor’s office.”
