MANISTEE TOWNSHIP — Manistee County Sheriff John O’Hagan has identified the man who found dead in the Manistee River Monday afternoon as Lee Cabot, 83, of Manistee. Cabot was found in approximately 3 1/2 feet of water along the north bank/shoreline of the river near the M 55. Sheriff O’Hagan said the medical examiner has ruled the death as “consistent with an accidental drowning” based on an autopsy that was performed earlier today.

Personnel from the MCSO were called to the scene about 3:29 p.m. Monday; Cabot was pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding to the scene were MCSO, Michigan Department of Natural Resources law enforcement, Munson Health Care Hospital EMS, Manistee Township Fire Department, and MCSO Victim Services Unit.
