Obituary: DeEtta Mae Peek, 87, Columbia, Missouri.

DeEtta Mae Peek, 87 of Columbia, Missouri, entered into her eternal rest Friday, September 29, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center.  She was born February 2, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to Everett Issac and Ida Mary (Barritt) Deese. DeEtta graduated from East High School in 1947 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics from Friends University in 1951. She married Charles Irwin Peek on January 8, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. DeEtta and Charles moved to Arcadia, Michigan in April 1955, to Interlochen, Michigan in October 1972and to Columbia, Missouri in November 1978. DeEtta graduated from the Columbia Public Schools Program of Practical Nursing in March 1982 and worked at Lenoir and for Visiting Nurses. She retired in 1992. DeEtta was a member of Columbia First Assembly of God.

DeEtta is survived by her children: Matthew Peek and wife Margie of Wichita, Kansas; Mark Peek of Columbia, Missouri; Michael Peek and wife Patty of Wichita, Kansas; Jennifer (Peek) Bedsworth of Independence, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nieces: Debbie Deese of Gainsville, Texas; and Patricia (Deese) Slacalek and husband Andy and their children Shelby and Logan of Needville, Texas.

DeEtta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter: Lillie Suzanne (Peek) Suliman; her brother: Duane Everett Deese and her sister in law: Helen Irene (Henry) Deese.

Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at Columbia First Assembly of God with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. DeEtta will be laid to rest next her husband at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita, Kansas on Friday, October 6, 2017
