MANISTEE — A 19-year-old Manistee woman, who is currently in prison, has been arraigned on meth charges in 85th District Court, according to Det./Lt. Andrew Ambrose of the State, Sheriffs’, Chiefs’ Enforcement of Narcotics Team.

“On June 2, 2017, Asheigh Rebekkah Geeting, 19, of Manistee was arraigned in 85th District Court of Manistee on a two-count felony warrant,” Ambrose states. “Geeting was arraigned on one count of maintaining a laboratory involving methamphetamine and one count possession of methamphetamine. The most serious charge is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine. Geeting is currently incarcerated with the Michigan Department of Corrections on an unrelated larceny charge.

“In February of this year, members of the Manistee City Police Department responded to a tip about a wanted fugitive at the Harborview Apartments in the City of Manistee. On scene, officers located Geeting and determined that she had outstanding warrants for her arrest. During their investigation, officers observed items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Upon observing the items, SSCENT detectives were called to assist and investigate. The charges are a result of the investigation conducted by SSCENT.”

Meth production involves the use of hazardous materials and requires specially-trained technicians to clean up the site. Members of the Michigan State Police Methamphetamine Enforcement Team responded to the scene to dismantle the laboratory and remove the hazardous materials from the residence.

SSCENT is a multi-jurisdictional task force that serves Manistee, Mason, Oceana and Lake counties. SSCENT asks that if you have information about drug activity in your area, to call 231-843-7045 or contact your local police department.
